N₂O Gas Production Process

The production of nitrous oxide involves thermal decomposition of ammonium nitrate at ~250°C. This yields N₂O gas and steam, along with minor nitrogen oxides. BluNet plants purify the gas through water, caustic soda, and sulfuric acid scrubbing.

  1. Ammonium nitrate heated to 250°C
  2. Thermal decomposition produces N₂O and steam
  3. Scrubbing removes impurities and residual nitrogen
  4. N₂O is cooled and stored in liquid form for distribution
