One end has been rounded, while the other end features a narrow tip; these have to be broken open to release food-grade nitrous oxide gas from inside; foil covers are often broken via sharp pin fitted in dispensers that contain them for release of this food-grade gas; cream charges have walls that are 2 mm thick to withstand pressure from being released by its contents inside.
Note that nitrous oxide (N2O) acts as the whipping agent in whipped cream dispensers and chargers, with used chargers being non-refillable but 100% recyclable.
